The first three winners of the "The American Dream Scholarships" have been announced: Maja, Helena, and Amelie beat out hundreds of applicants and will begin their high school year in the USA this summer.
Take the chance of living in the USA and apply for the official US Green Card Lottery!
The new "The American Dream Scholarship" program was launched in August 2021 to enable committed and creative students to attend an American high school regardless of their parent’s financial situation.
Following the call for applications by The American Dream and Partnership International e.V., several hundred applications arrived quickly. Four qualification rounds and a few months later, the students Maja (15), Helena (14), and Amelie (15) received the best Christmas gift in the world, namely a scholarship award.
Maja has dreamed of spending a year abroad in the USA for a long time. Working out this adventure herself during the multi-month selection process was ideal for the 15-year-old because she wanted to make her own contribution to her American dream. Maja is especially looking forward to exploring American culture and visiting a US high school.
Helena spent an entire school term learning everything she could about the USA. She finds the American school system with its many activities particularly exciting. Helena's love of sports fits in perfectly with the American sportsmanship that dominates the daily routine at almost every high school in the United States.
Amelie is delighted that her long-cherished dream of attending an American high school and living with a US host family is finally coming true. She has a well-rounded personality and hopes to quickly become a part of a high school sports team and build up a network there. Amelie's experience in a wide variety of sports and her previous work as a coach of younger cheerleaders will definitely help with that.
Our applicants had to go through a four-stage selection process to win one of the desired USA scholarships, including an online application, a letter of motivation, a get-to-know-you interview, and a creative contribution.
Maja's creative contribution was a multi-layered Stars and Stripes cake. The creation of the delicious submission took a lot of time and heart, and Maja also had to put away a few mishaps. After this effort, our winner is sure to know her baking recipe by heart, with its unusual ingredients such as "wanderlust" and "adventure spirit!"
Helena is not only a real sports fanatic but also a talented artist. The fact that she has attended some graffiti workshops in the past played into her hands when it came to creating her submission. She convinced the jury with a film showing her spraying magnificent USA graffiti.
Amelie has been working in several disciplines for her creative contribution: sewing, drawing, resin casting, copywriting, and designing.
The resulting collection of items, all of which represent her love for the USA, is really something to behold. Especially the detailed USA-designed gym bag is a real highlight!
Just like Maja, Helena, and Amelie, many young people would like to spend a year in the USA, but their families often shy away from the high costs. Programs like the "The American Dream Scholarship" help make the American dream come true for young students.
The initiative is supported by the USA experts of The American Dream with a total of € 15,000 annually and implemented by the non-profit association Partnership International e.V. The entry requirements include having a passion for the USA, a commitment to volunteering, and a love of storytelling.
Maja, Helena, and Amelie will fly to the land of their dreams with their suitcases packed in Summer 2022. We will be part of their journey as all three winners will publish their own personal USA blogs.
Thanks to all participants of this year's scholarship award! The next application round starts in April!
