I didn't even know that my husband Sascha had played in the Green Card Lottery. For him, it was always clear that we were going to immigrate to the USA. I was self-employed in Germany, we had built a good life for ourselves, and were in the process of moving into a new terraced corner house - in other words, really typical German.
