The DS-260 Immigrant Visa Electronic Application is the form that all Green Card winners are required to submit to apply for their Green Card. The form must be completed and submitted online. The form requires the applicant to give many personal details including family status, current and former addresses, US travel history and their complete job and educational background. This form must be completed by the main applicant and all family members applying for a Green Card.
The Diversity Visa Program is the annual Green Card Lottery run by the U.S. Department of State. Every year, 55,000 immigration visas are awarded to winners selected randomly in the drawing.
People who have derivative status are eligible for a US visa through another person. For example, the children and the spouse of a Green Card winner have derivative status.
